K MUZIK - also known as DJ-K (Muzik)(Has also been known as "Christian Daley for Lily Management);- I started "Raving" as it was known back in the day at the likes of "Lucarave" at Mr Smiths, Sams in Widnes and Club 4, Influenced by the likes of Dave Graham, Rusty and the Groover records emporium. Having bought many a 12" at Groover records and bought some 1210's I started mixing and playing some low key clubs locally,
It all started big time when I sent a mix tape into Muzik Magazine in Jan 1995. I got a phone call from Ben Turner a few days later telling me I'd won "Bedroom Bedlam" mix of the month for Feb 1995. From then on it was a roller coaster of big clubs, I never had time to feel nervous, Some weeks I was doing 3/4 gigs. I was in my element to find I'd won "Bedroom Bedlam DJ Of the year" in 1997 and was presented with the award " Which was a brass acid smiley!!!) by Judge Jules on radio 1. ..I then signed up to a couple of DJ Agencies and started doing gigs in European destinations I never even knew had a dance scene.
The Highlights for me were Exit Festival in Serbia, Eden-Lincoln, Gatecrasher-Sheffield, Steem-Sheffield, The Red Box-Dublin, Global Dance-Guernsey and Various venues in Poland and not forgetting playing at what was the biggest club in the world at the time, Privelage in Ibiza. I did spend 9 months trying to introduce my home town of Widnes to a decent clubscene, and booked some decent DJ's to pull the crowds in. For some reason the Widnes crowd just didn't get it! They just wanted scouse house and non stop banging trance.
I didnt lose any money on the project which was the only positive to come out of it, RIP "Ootchy Kootchy". So with a DJ Career which spanned over 15 years, do all good things have to come to end, Who knows!!!! One of my favourite places in the whole world is the Cafe del mar in Ibiza, I was lucky enough to witness Jose Padilla's reign in the very early 90's, when watching the sunset to his chill out soundscapes was an experience I'd never forget, And has influenced me ever since. The place was like a magnet and i've probably visited that island whether it was to DJ or to chill out more than any other destination in the world.
So all in all my influences come from all corners of the world, My current style can be anything from a tribal progressive techy tip to a more uplifting progressive trance sound.
And of course I can't forget the old skool vibe that has carried me to where I am today.
You can download my mixes in the "About" section in each mix feature.
